Our First Holiday Season in Our Own Home!

So this year is our first year in our own house during the Holidays (I'm sure I've told you that before lol).  I've been telling Fehi all the things I would like to do, and how I want to start our own traditions.  It sucks just a little because we haven't gotten into Halloween this year, which is ok, but once Thanksgiving and Christmas rolls around you bet my house will just be filled with the holiday spirit.  We've been talking a little bit about what will be on our menu for thanksgiving, and since I've been into cooking and baking we'll most likely try a few new and different recipes.  So far for our menu, we have lusipi (a must), hopefully some ufi, turkey (of course), mash potatoes, gravy, stuffing (homemade), maybe a homemade peach cobbler or apple pie, some kind of chicken (GOTTA have my chicken) and everything else that we come up with.

I've also been debating whether I wanted to get a real Christmas tree this year, or one of those really nice big ones from Costco (lol).  All I know is I need one by Thanksgiving.  I told Fehi that I wanted to start a tradition of putting up our tree and decorations the night of thanksgiving.  There's just so many things I want to do with my little family I wish I had the means and time to do it all! However, I know over the years it'll get better and better.  I already plan to buy next years Halloween decorations as soon as this Halloween holiday is over, you know, when prices fall and everything Halloween goes on sale.  I will be dressing up with my kids as well, which I haven't done yet, and hopefully I can get Fehi to dress up, especially since this year it seems like we'll have a warmer Halloween than usual.

I just have so much gratitude for all that Heavenly Father has blessed my little family with.  As you know we're still trying to make our family a little bit bigger (not like pants size lol) but even though we aren't there yet, we have so much faith and love for our father in Heaven, and we know one way or another we'll continue to bring children to this earth.  I'm excited for the holidays, and can't wait to share these special times with my family.  (Oh! A story just popped up in my mind...) One day while we were going to Walmart, and we were listening to music on the radio, Fehi said "you know what.. I want to play something else.." then he goes to his iPod.  Next I hear Christmas music playing, and I just smiled.  He knows me so well, and knows how to make me smile.  Have a great Halloween everyone! :)

Recap of the Weekend... Events coming up...

So nothing new is going, but I'm still enjoying my free couches (you can read about it here) lol.  Our weekend went pretty well. On Friday Fehi went out with a couple of his friends and they took their sons with them to the East vs. Highland game, these teams are rivals.  Like, if you're from Hawaii it's like comparing a Kahuku vs. Farrington game, or Kahuku vs. St. Louis game.  So since Fehi was going to the game with his boys, I invited my girls over to my house for a GNI (Girls Night In).  It's funny cause we caught up, ate pizza and some desserts, and then we waited for our other friend to come so we could help her with centerpieces for her sister's wedding.  But sure enough as we were waiting, one by one we fell asleep (except for maybe 1 of the 4 of us) lol.

I just thought about how we are getting old(er) lol.  I mean really, who falls asleep when we should be loud and laughing lol.  But sure enough our friend came and we did just that until the wee hours in the night.  I totally forgot that I was working the next morning (at 730am) but decided that it would be ok.  I mentioned to my girls that I could do this (staying up late at night) every now and then, so that night was it. lol. I'm just grateful to have such great friends in my life.  We've been friends since diaper days.  We've attended preschool, elementary, intermediate, and high school together, and for some of us, even college.

The next day I had to work, and though I was yawning through my flights, I got through the day.  We then attended Baby Amalani's (Inoke & Tali Hafoka's daughter) first birthday.  It was in South Jordan, we got there late, and ate some yummy yummy tongan food, and then we came home.  It was probably 4pm, and I knocked out till about 1030pm (thanks to my babes who took care of the children).   On Sunday we caught the last hour of church (because my work schedule overlaps with church).  We finally met and talked with our Bishop.  This summer has been so busy that we would only get to catch sacrament meeting and then leave, so there wasn't much room to talk to people from the ward.  Now we will have to miss sacrament meeting, but will be able to go to class.  I don't mind, just as long as we are attending church.

Overall my weekend was nice and relaxing. Tomorrow, Fehi will go again with baby moe and his friends to the East game, and me and Kesaia will be going to a Halloween themed Bridal Shower.  I found kesaia's costume at Savers (it's a mermaid costume) and I still need to figure out what I'm gonna dress as.  Me and my friends thought about just wearing our wedding dresses (lol), and we're also thinking of getting those pajama's from walmart, but we'll see.  I'll definitely take pictures tomorrow, and post them up. Until then, have a good day! :) ***Oh, and my mommy comes tomorrow! :) ***

Your Trash = My Treasure

Funniest thing happened on Monday.  I was at work and my husband had called and said that his brother's wife had given birth. So he wanted to visit them.  I told him to just get the kids ready and when they pick me up we would just go straight to the hospital from there.  So on our way there we stopped by mcdonalds and got them some food.  Oh, and we thought they were at the IHC on 5400 South, but they were really at the University Hospital at the U of U, hello, big difference! lol.

So we made our way back north, and as we were driving up on 900 south past 1300 east we saw a couple little couches and a mattress.  I told him to stop so we could look at it, and we decided to take it home.  We got a truck, packed it up and then we drove around.  Now let me just say, in Hawaii we don't do this whole spring cleaning (and now fall cleaning?) thing where we put stuff on the side of the road, so when I moved here it was my first time seeing people do this.  And then it was a whole different thing for me when I would see people with their trucks and trailers driving around looking for things, such as metal and what not.  So for us to do that, I wasn't as embarrassed as I thought I would be.  I probably would only do this on the east side though, or in rich neighborhoods lol. i'm jk!

Anyhow, so instead of going to the hospital with their 50 piece chicken mcnugget meal we had bought for them, we drove around (while I was still in my work clothes lol) looking for anything that we could take home.  We went a little more east and we found a white love seat.  It looked like it was still in good condition, except for some spills (juice and coffee spills) on the arm of the chair.  So we put that on the truck, and left the mattress we originally picked up.  We decided not to take the mattress cause it was wet from the night before, and all these bugs were on it.  So we had this loveseat, and two little chairs.  Then drove around and I really don't even know where we were when I spotted this really nice sofa. I have no idea why someone was throwing it out, but we picked it up and ended up leaving the two small chairs.

When we got home, I cleaned all the cushion covers, tried scrubbing the stains out of the white love seat.. and then we went a bought a microsuede love seat cover from walmart.  They do run a little bit expensive, but I was glad we bought it.  Not only does it cover the stains on the white loveseat, but you can't even really tell it's a cover.  They even give you a second piece where you put any cushions in, so for us we put the bottom two and left the white pillow/cushions as decorative pieces, cause the back of the sofa is already soft and doesn't really need it.

Here's the loveseat with the cover on it, the white cushions are the color of the couch.

This is the second couch we found, I just cleaned the cushion covers.. sprayed some fabric refreshener on it.  Cleaned any mess on it.. and here it is...

it's very comfortable & microsuede
Moe was very excited for the new couch too :) lol

Cleaned all the covers, and it's like brand new!
There was a little stain on one of the covers, but it came off after washing it :)

We've always scored for some reason on free couches.  Our couches we have in our upstairs living room, we had gotten for free a couple years ago from a guy who was moving to Alaska and was just giving it away.  The only thing we have to do is get new cushioning for it. These couches that we just got we put it in our tv/family room downstairs.   I still wonder why someone was throwing it out, but it doesn't matter cause like they say, what's your trash is my treasure and I love it, and I especially love that it was for FREE, cause when you're on a budget like us, you gotta get creative! lol :)

Hair... and LOVE! :)

Wellll..... remember how I talked about my hair... and I wanted a new look or something...

Well..... let me just show you....

Yes! I cut my BANGS! :) and this is something TOTALLY new and very different for me! Seriously! I've NEVER had bangs like this before... when I cut it last night, I went downstairs and asked my husband "So what do you think??" and he turned around and was like.. what the?!? lol then he said "did you cut it because you want to look like beyonce???" lol... I couldn't stop laughing, cause we watched this music video of her's and he thought that I was going for that look....

Beyonce in her music video "Countdown"
Ok, now after watching the video again, I guess I can see where he's coming from.. maybe she inspired me subconsciously and I didn't know it.. lol... Who knows maybe for halloween I'll bust out in black skinny jeans, a black turtle neck, pink heels, stick a head band on my hair then i'm set! lol. Anywayz, I do love the new look.. I feel a little more like 25 years old, if you know what I mean.  It's just nice to throw something different in the mix.  I went to work this morning and saw a good friend of mines, she did compliment it, and said she liked it.

When I got home this morning, my husband got to see me really good, in the daylight (versus late at night) and he said he really did like my new hairstyle.  That it's something new, but he really does like it... then he expressed to me that I was beautiful... *blushing* ;)  When he says that, it just reminds me of the first day he called me beautiful... when we first started dating he told me about how other girls may be pretty, but to him I was the only one who was beautiful.... and all these years later I'm glad to know he still feels the same way, cause I know I definitely still feel the same (even more) for him today... He always knows just what to say to make me fall in love with him all over again...

April 2007... when we knew we'd be ETERNAL :)

I love you forever baby, this song is dedicated to you! :)

This guy (Blair Perkins) sings Beyonce's song "1+1" which is one of my faves, my husband thinks he sings it better than beyonce.. I do agree he sings it pretty good, but really no one can outdo beyonce! lol.  Oh and he sounds just like Tevin Campbell!!! :)

Now I Can Say It... I LOVE Blogging!

Just the other day I told my husband that if I could choose between facebook and blogging, I would choose blogging.  Then he asked me if that meant I was deleting my facebook and I said NO! lol.  I really have come to liking, correction, loving it! Because it's given me that motivation again to keep a journal, well kind of.  I don't write down EVERY single thing I'm feeling, but I do have at least some type of way of writing down something that goes on with me.  I've also been able to meet, and get to know a lot of people through blogging.  Like just the other day I came across this blog, I read it while I was in gate training (at the delta reservations building) and I almost about cried because of what she was sharing.  It's things like that, that you can't get on facebook.

Anyhow, yesterday was a day fullll of baking.  Me and husband were helping a friend out with his fundraiser, so I baked chocolate chip banana bread with walnuts for him to sell.  I made about 90 banana bread (including the ones I made this morning).  I've never made so much of anything like that at one time.  I was soooo tired too because like I mentioned, I've been in gate training for Delta.  So this week was a full work week for me.  On thursday we had training from 8-3pm, and then we voted on coming back at 12am to finish off training at the airport.  What was suppose to be only 4 hours, turned into 6 hours (don't you love that lol) and so i got home at 630am and went right into mashing banana's, and baking the loaves.  So from 7am till 7pm at night I was baking banana bread.  Talk about overkill. lol.  Anyhow, today is my day off and tomorrow is my first day at the gates.  I wanted to do something fun today, then I looked out the window, looked alright, opened the window, closed it and decided we'll do something fun at home. lol.  (Just another perk to having your own place.. u can have stay at home activities!) Well, I'm still waiting to do just that. lol.

Moving on.. I got sidetracked and just decided that I want to cut my hair.  If you don't know my hair story.. then I'll tell you.. I have dry, frizzy, nappy hair.  Before, I would ALWAYS straighten my hair.  I even invested in a CHI and used it for like 4 years until the plug went out on me.  Well I survived throughout fall and winter without really straightening my hair.. which in returned allowed me to get use to my own hair, and I loved it.  My hair doesn't grow very fast, so it was just nice for it to have been at the length it was when it was curly.

This was a year ago, when I was getting use to my natural hair (and I was wayyy skinnier then.. lol.. Ugh)
This was in January of this year (I believe) and it was full, curly, but manageable... and I was still skinnier lol

Well, of course I decided that I wanted to have a new look, now I wish I didn't, so I decided to dye my whole head black (btw, I never dyed my hair either for months, which was a BIG thing for me cause I usually dye my hair every few months cause I have gray hair).  So in February I went to a salon they dyed my hair and put in red streaks.  Well, you couldn't really see the streaks with red hair, so what did I do.. straighten my hair... (biiig mistake lol)  Then those red streaks turned brown, and I hated it.  So I re-dyed those brown streaks red (another big mistake).

Here you can see my "red" (reddish brown) streaks.. and the forming of my double chin.. ugh! lol

Then in March (or was it April.. I think it was April) I had a face-to-face interview with Delta Airlines, and I didn't think it was appropriate to walk in for an interview with my hair looking like that.  Usually I dye my hair using Ganier Nuctrisse products like this one, but this one stinking time (in how many years of using Ganier) I used a Clairol product, but I had to dye my hair twice to get rid of the red and brown in my hair.  Yes I know it totally fried my hair, but I know if I had stuck to my usual, Garnier, it most likely wouldn't have turned out like this...

In May when I started training with Delta.. This is my hair after it dried up with conditioner in it... and I gained a little weight here.. hehe
This was actually before I started at delta in May.. As you can tell my hair went flat and just wavy looking...
My hair became very limp, and dead.  It was not as curly as it was, no matter what I used.  It was almost as if I relaxed my hair, which I NEVER did or will ever do. So then what do I do... I cut it... and I cut it really short.  Now I REALLY have to keep my hair straightened so it looks decent.  It's taken some time to get use to it... i just wish I didn't care so much.  It's just hair, if I had it my way I would shave my head and wear a wig. lol.. NO FO REAL! lol

But now it's shorter.. and I'm fatter (just thought I'd throw that in there lol) and yeah, I miss my hair.  I wonder though, you always hear about women going through hair changes when they're pregnant or whatever.  Well I know I'm not pregnant but still, maybe my hormones is catching up the hair part of the pregnancies before. lol. Idk.  I think I'm talking to much about my hair, but I just thought I'd share.. cause it's my blog and I can. lol.

So thanks for reading, hope you gained something from it today! lol. Good day ya'll! ;)
